Delete! Delete! Delight!

I recently found myself with the challenge of cleaning out an overflowing email inbox.  Talk about a stressful endeavor!  I found outdated sales flyers, play dates and notices from coaches about upcoming practices or games; they were easy…DELETE!  Then came a photo here or a recipe there.  Well, those I might want to save.  I took a moment to do so.  What was left before me were countless emails covering a 4-month span of my life in which my father nearly died, we sold and bought a home AND we had a multitude of other issues cropping up here and there.  As I look back, that time in my life proved to be a blur!

However, filtering through those months of emails, I found one very consistent thread; I found prayer requests galore.  I sent them.  I received them.  I prayed.  I waited.  I watched as God did what only He can do.  He addressed each and every need in His time and in His way.  Often times, God worked out resolutions better than any of us could have ever hoped and in ways we never thought possible.  My father arrived at the hospital with only moments to spare.  We bought a new home after more than a year of watching, pursuing and waiting.  We sold our home with a multitude of factors seeming to work against us.  Friends struggled with sick children, lives were lost, and marriages restored.  In summary, it proved to be a season of healing, hope and resolution.

When life proves rocky and all is chaotic, I sometimes wonder if God is there.  However, when you look back, as I was fortunate enough to do, you can see the clearest evidence of God’s handiwork all over your life.  Had God not carried so many of us through that season, I do not know how any of us would have survived.  Had I not trusted in Him, I more than likely would have forced some issues, burnt some bridges and ended up in a mess.  Thank God for His faithfulness and help in this time of need.  Thank God for the patience He has taught me through the years.  He can be trusted with our trials.

“I lift up my eyes to the hills—

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the LORD,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—

he who watches over you will not slumber;

indeed, he who watches over Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD watches over you—

the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day,

nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all harm—

he will watch over your life;

the LORD will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.”

Psalm 121:1-8 (NIV)
